About the PSAT Team Program

The LHS PSAT Team is a by invitation only elective class for the Fall semester of the junior year.  Invitation is based on sophomore year PSAT score.  The purpose of the PSAT Team is to maximize a student's score on PSAT/SAT/ACT in order to increase the scholarship opportunities for which they qualify including the potential to achieve National Merit Recognition when they take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year.

What is a good SAT/ACT score?

SAT/ACT scores vary from college to college.  Check out this site where you can search for college profiles.  Each profile lists two SAT and ACT scores.  The lower score is the 25th percentile score (the SAT/ACT score which was better than 25% of incoming Freshman at that college).  The higher score is the 75th percentile score.  Scores between the two would be very strong scores for admission to that college/university.  However, scores lower would not rule out the college since 25% of incoming Freshman score below the listed score.  Also, be sure to look at College Board's new Big Future website dedicated to planning for college.  They have organized virtually everything you need to research college's and scholarships.
